The optimizing of ATS

Topic started on 23-6-2003 @ 06:35 PM by William

Well... for some reason, site traffic goes through the roof on Monday. I think it's all the people who normally access ATS from school or work, coming back on to see what's new.

I'll post more updates soon, but here's a quick list of what needs to be done, and why I'm looking for PHP or Apache help.

1- Streamline XMB's member handling
2- Optimize the code (might loose some cool layout features)
3- Streamline HTML (might loose more cool layout features)
4- Upgrade mySQL server
5- Reconfigure mySQL server to cache queries
6- Upgrade Apache (? maybe)
7- Add more RAM to the server
8- Install PHP acceleration

This is a quickie, I'll post more details soon. But it seems as though at times, the traffic level is too high for the rather top-heavy design and layout we've been enjoying. This is among our biggest problems. I'll be optimizing that first.

I know that site traffic has been incredable, to say the least, and has, according to your list, caused some significant headache's, but does this not also say alot for the site, it's content, the quality of the people maintaining it as well as for the people who find the Forum a enjoyable and knowledgable experience.

I can't help myself from saying....congrats and may this site continue to grow in popularity and forum members.
