New board INDEX (home) page

Topic started on 13-9-2003 @ 11:23 AM by William

As we've been getting more and more traffic, our board home page ( www.abovetopsecret.com... ) has become a major resource hog... not so much from the extras, but more from the way XMB is programmed combined the massive volume of threads, posts, and high number of forums.

I've just completed the first round in some MAJOR reprogramming of the index page, that has some very minor HTML tweaks, but major PHP recoding. Additional tweaks will take place today, but this first round should see significant improvements in overall performance.

If anyone experiences problems or odd behavior with the new Board Home page, please post them here.

Thanks.

PS: I'm going to stop tracking and reporting on individual guest users. We've been experiencing periods of 60+ unique guests, and the simple programming that tracks each unique guest so that we can tally the number of guests is also a (combined) heavy load on the processor. It's been fun to watch how many unique gests we're getting, but now it must go... sniff

Did you up the flood control time value to like an hour or something? Cause I've waited for about a minute and it still hasn't timed out yet.

No. It should still be 45 seconds.
