Question for the Mods.

Topic started on 13-9-2003 @ 06:59 PM by falcon

Now that I have a scanner I can take copys of some of the older material that I have and post it on ats one of the things that I want to post in the plans for eletromagnetic propulsion this is also called Electro gravity drives. In order to make sure that I dont have to go threw too much trouble in resizing them I need to know the max as a far as size they can be. The sooner I find out the sooner I can start scaning and uploading the plans so people can see how to make these engines.

These are also used in some of the x model craft that are out there.

Thanks.

Falcon.

I'm no mod but I bet this board doesn't have any explicit size limitations. It's just a picture. I wouldn't go over 2046x2046, though. You could also host them somewhere and just link to them. There is a max file size limit on uploading.

I wouldn't recommend making a topic solely containing large graphical files, not so much because of the physical dimensions but because of the file size which will likely be an issue for users on slower Internet connections.

If you are going to give a sort of "running commentary" for the different scans, perhaps you can do as ktprktpr said and host the image but just link to it.

I agree, but for a different reason. I think links should be posted to large images. If they're posted with the IMG tag, they screw up the entire thread and everyone has to scroll 3 miles to read it.

I completely agree. Another idea may be to include smaller versions of the pics in the post, and then link to the large versions of the pic....

As Simon mentioned there are still people who use slower internet connections and you have to keep them in mind while posting Images. For example, instead of posting a bitmap (which tend to be larger), post a jpeg. Also, unless there is some sort of fine detail that you insist be seen, shrink it. You can use the Microsoft Photo Editor to take an existing image and shrink it down by pixel. All you have to do is go to "Image > Resize" and then change it to something a little more friendly. Posting or linking to a picture that's 5mb is going to really cause issues for people on dialup so use caution when picking what images to put up.
