Please, please please- I have tried and tried , but I have a very specific idea for an avatar. Please some help. (It just involves putting some text
onto a pic I have and making it look like an official govt. seal.

If you have Photoshop, you
can make the background a separate layer from the pic and use the transparency setting to make the pic transparent to the background.

Naturally Im going to do more reading than posting on ATS. So if you see that my handle reads member is on ATS now that's what I'm doing. I would
like to point out also that this site feels extremely futuristic, like some sort of Multifaced Intelligent Being wrapped around a good cause. A
spaceship city if you will. If you can read this Richard C Hoagland and Jim Marrs I have a question for each of you but Im such a procrastinator that
it may take a while for me to deliver my question as eloquently as possible all in all this is My kind of place.

OK - It seems as if things may have changed with the new Media Portal.
I get to the Member Center and then click on Member Upload Space but then it asks me to use the new Media Portal. So far, so good. Then when I go to
the new Media Portal there's a note to say it's not to be used for uploading Avatars but it doesn't tell me what I should do instead.
Help please!
Many thanks
Edit to say - I did it! Now you have to go to 'My Pictures' and upload your pic to an album then use 'options' to use it as your avatar.

I posted on this site today and my avatar did not show up.Has ATS changed the rules for the avatar content. It seems to me that any avatar religious
in nature has been banned! Is there any truth to this? If so, please explain to me why you have chosen to do this.

Yeah, the rules did change. You have to upload your avatar to the Media Portal, then use the link it gives
you for your avatar.

I've uploaded a JPEG image into the "my pictures" section & selected it as an avatar. I get confirmation it is selected, but there is no avatar on
my profile or my posts.

It looks like you used the thumbnail of the picture as your avatar. You want to click the thumbnail and it'll give you the actual picture and the
link to use it as your avatar.

Thanks.
I did that & now it's too wide. Does that mean I can't use the picture as my avatar?

The max file size for one upload is 50mb, but SkepticOverlord said there was no limit to how many files you could upload.
