Sorry for bringing this up again, but is the mosquito ad going to be removed or not?

It's been weeks since I've seen that ad.

What network is it running on?

Agreed, please get rid of it (the mosquito ad) or at least disable the sound.

If I want to watch a video someone has posted I have to close down the ATS thread to get rid of the sound. That's annoying.

Thanks!

We've indicated (many times) the information we need to investigate removing an offensive ad from one of our three ad-serving networks. There are well over 300 distinct advertisers, and more than 1,800 distinct ad units running on the combined networks. It's impossible to remove any ad on description alone... yet... the vast majority of complaints in this thread seem to expect us to.

Epilepsy Hazard

Please get rid of this one too:

It flashes in a manner which can induce seizures in non-epileptics (and if I'm any guide, manic depressives).

This is its URL:

media.fastclick.net...

It redirects to here:

consumerincentiverewards.com...

Maybe We Should Advertise For Some New Advertisers

It's a crappy deal all around, since you're forced to spend your valuable time playing whack-a-mole while members who just want to discuss conspiracies and alternative topics are forced to spend their valuable time investigating and reporting obnoxious ads.

Frustration for everyone, and problems we don't need.

I haven't seen the latest incarnation of the Dreaded Mosquito Ad, but it originated via fastclick.net as indicated in the OP.

I'm sorry I can't offer a fresh URL, but hopefully another member can. Certainly I will post a URL if I see that spawn of Satan again!

I'm hoping we can put a permanent end to these nuisances instead of finding ourselves playing Dutchboy and dike with ads that outnumber us, but I realize these things can take time and will, of course, do what I can to help.

In the meantime, I encourage members who come across obnoxious ads to capture their URLs and post them here.

It's not a pleasant thing to have to do, but it's better than nothing.

At least we can get a little sweet revenge on the bastards who are disrupting our otherwise calm, peaceful and idyllic website.

ROFL! Isn't that the truth.

Not only are (or were) these ads annoying, but they're insulting. Who is that naive? A FREE* Lap Top, orly? We all know what's going to happen when you click those ads.

I've been watching people bitch about this for ages, but only yesterday have I had the pleasure of witnessing it first hand, and yeah, it's annoying, but worse than those bloody "SAY SOMETHIN'!" smiles? I dunno.

I can live with any of the ads mentioned, just turn off the speakers etc, but the popup windowfixer ad takes over the whole browzer and completely gets rid of this site, like i have to close about 4 windows just to get rid of the thing. And then start over browsing here. Please remove this ad.
Edit:to be precise its Errorsafe not windowfixer (just happened again :flame , please fix this ASAP.

Whats interesting is, would people pay to view ats.. or put up with the ads?

Would people pay per, say a year, to access ATS- minus the ads?

I would, not an extortionate amount but i believe this is one of the few sites around today that is worth paying for. Hopefully though we won't ever have to go that way as it would put a lot of members off. Just keeping an eye on the dodgy ads is enough i think.

I hate any ad that involves sound. otherwise, they are tolerable, as I dont have to look at them. But i like listening to music, and I hate when the noisy adds ruin the mood.

Kill those and Ill be happy.

I'm bringin this thread back to life to bring up these HORRIBLE "typre here to hear me speak". This ad scared the hell out of me with its spooky voice and its on everyother page.

Mosquito, now this , It's like we need to turn off our speakers to log on to ATS.

As SkepticOverlord has stated, we can't do anything without members providing the necessary details to disable an ad.

Please also bear in mind this is how we make the money that keeps this place running! Without ads, there won't be ATS!

Can I suggest people refrain from the typical "Ahhh, this ad is making noise, ATS will stop it now or I won't come back"-type threads.

If someone has an issue, obtain the necessary code we ask for, then make a post here, not just a whine/rant.
