this has never happened before on my own computer, but I'm on a stinky lab computer at the moment. I clicked on the BTS tab and suddenly wasn't logged in. is that supposed to happen?

Yes. While both sites access the same user database, they use different cookies to track user information.

I've had that happen a couple of times...may just be one of the kinks they're still working on....
