Can somebody tell me what that grey bar below the avatar measures? i dont see any desription of it anyware...im curious about how it is caculated and what exactly is is caculating....

I think its a measure of your total history of points, not your current level of points but all the points you've ever had.

Of course this is just a guess.

Looks like it was a wrong guess. Ah well you learn something new everyday

I always wondered what the grey bar was.

I believe the bar also changes colour as you get applauds.

Obviously these measures are not in any way proportional vs their scale.

pineapple, applauds are a way for staff to show their appreciation for an exceptionally good post by a member. An applaud sends a u2u message to the applaudee showing which thread their post was in, and they get a 250 point bonus.

neo: I think it has something to do with the rate of recent posting also. William just likes to make it an elaborate equation to confuse us.

it changes color depending what position you hold on ats. I think member is grey, and staff is orange

Not quite right. It always start gray, and change color when people get applauds (does vote count too?) like Kano said.

It goes from gray, to tinted-red and end with bright-organge.

Not that I always agree with Fulcrum,

but I highly question what is considered quality here too.

I know I have made numerous good posts here to be ignored and yet others rack up points for what I CALL MEDIOCRE posts. You know the rah rah slam Bush BS which I have proven here to many people is not really hurting the 'man.'

The only time I got applause was when I personally complimented a mod. That's it.

The problem at ATS is not quality posting as there are many that post quality here and do not get their dues, it is POPULARITY. This is defined as doing what is expected, safe, typical, expected and appealing to the mass. Oh and forget the truth because that definitely doesn't cut it.
