to me, the answer is obvious
when you mix religion and politics there becomes no distinguishing between the 2

all political actions end up having a religious significance
and all religious actions end up having a political influence


what would be so positive about removing our current serperation of church and state?

what would be so positive about removing freedom FROM religion?
