Personally I think communism is a terrible system, but that’s because it’s always been run by human beings. I also hate the idea of my wealth
being liquidated but then, that’s me being just so typically human!
But one thing that got me thinking when I was 15 was: What will happen when machines can think like us?
Surely it would soon bring an end to the need to work?
After all if humans can run factories that make machines, and if machines can be programmed to be anything as dumb as they are now, to smarter than
Einstein then what is the point of human factory managers?
If you don’t need human managers then why do you need human owners?
The banks, the market surveyors, even the venture capitalists, and all these other things could not only just statistically superior than any human
worker; but also cheaper and owned. But owned by who?
The one thing we will still need (unless we are to be enslaved by machines) is democracy. Therefore would a communist government, promising to hand
over power to an intelligent but selfless range of robots be able to win power?
The Method…
Every year a country could calculate its own GDP and divide this amongst the population equally, in order for us to spend, in order to provide the
next GDP.
Of course there may be a transitional stage where a few human beings are still needed, and in order to make it worth their while to work, the machines
(or at least the people controlling those machines) may decide to pay them extra in order to encourage them to work.
But my question (even if it does nothing in my lifetime) other than to provide the seeds for a great movie is…
Is Communism the Wavelength of the Very, Very Distant Future?
And is there anyway of avoiding it (other than delaying-limiting the development of artificial intelligence?)
