Christian Grads Boycott Pres Candidate Romney Commencement

Topic started on 7-5-2007 @ 06:10 AM by RANT

So, you're a good Christian (as per Cable TV), spending about $12,000 a year to send little Johnny to Pat Robertson's Regent University. And it's not easy forsaking affordable State School indoctrination to science (aka liberalism) for CBN brainwashing, especially ever since the tire business went south. But you make sacrifices, because you BELIEVE what Pat Robertson says.

Like on his website...

How Do I Recognize a Cult?

WHAT DO MORMONS BELIEVE?

Mormons are some of the most exemplary human beings, especially in regard to their behavior patterns and their adherence to the fundamental values of our society. But their religious beliefs are, to put it simply, wrong. They believe that an angel named Moroni left some gold tablets in upstate New York and that these tablets were discovered by a man named Joseph Smith...

Then Pat, your pipeline to God on Earth, goes and hires a CULT MEMBER to speak to little Johnny's commencement about 50 grand later you couldn't afford in the first place. Just because he looks more like Reagan than Reagan ever did?

The Virginian Pilot

Romney's choice as commencement speaker at the school founded by religious broadcaster Pat Robertson intrigued Richardson, who described himself as a "mainline denominational Christian."

But it bothered other Christians.

Some, including the Christian Broadcasting Network that Robertson also heads, question whether Mormonism is truly Christian. CBN discusses Mormonism on its Web site under "How Do I Recognize a Cult?"

Romney's religion offended some enough to say that they would skip graduation in protest.

Which cult is imploding faster here? The GOP or it's so called Christian base?

Wait. Sorry. Fox News cleared all this up.

According to Sean Hannity, OBAMA is the cult member, not MORMON ROMNEY.

Gosh, thanks FOX NEWS.

Imploding? Not a chance for either really.

But "for rent" -- definitely! Now I am not calling them 1000 dollar a nigh,.....er plate escorts, but there is something to be said for courting all the well-endowed (financially speaking that is) gents until a real frontrunner emerges.

Everything is negotiable in the end, even god. (think back to the coronation of Rev. Moon a few years back)

Well said Bleys!

Especially the double entrendre part.

No idea why, but creepy theo-populist political bedfellowing (just made up a word!) so lends itself to, um, yeah...

Funny that Robertson has the audacity to call anyone's beliefs wrong. Some of the things that I have heard him quip is outstandingly wrong. Read his book New World Order and you will figure out relatively quickly why I do not like Mr. Robertson.

I think he is a very hateful man who hides behind a "kind" smile and "noble" ideology.

Attacking a candidate for his or her religion is stupid, underhanded, and cowardly.

why? they're just as valid as everything else. what about attacking them for their favorite sports team? it's the same thing, only the religious views dictate how they live their life and will run our country.

Attacking them for their favorite sports team is just as stupid.

How a person runs their life has little effect on our country. I don't care if he worships the seventeen gods of schlamantiazarania every morning. What does matter, contrary to popular belief, is his or her ability to make good decisions.
