E-vote 'threat' to UK democracy

Full Story

British democracy could be undermined by moves to use electronic voting in elections, warns a report...

...What the observers saw led the ORG to express "serious concerns" about e-voting and whether it should be used local and national elections. In England, e-voting systems using kiosks, laptops, touch screens and mobile phones have been tried.

The ORG's main objection was that e-voting was currently a "black box" system which stopped voters seeing how their votes were recorded or counted.

I find this article particularly interesting because much of the United States is switching to electronic ballots and there has been very little national concern over this method. This is especially concerning since the 2000 elections in which Al Gore nearly demanded a re-count from the Florida polls.

Even in state and county elections one still fills out a ballot, but the ballot is in turn scanned through another electronic device rather than hand counted by a human. Is there any guarantee that these machines can be trusted?

Do the pros of saving money outwiegh the cost of one's voice in an election?

You cant even rely on most of your electronic equpiment from time to time you have glitches, errors, and just bad coding,

Why in gods green earth would we put the most valued thing americans have in this country into a flawed system such as electronic voting, when we are being urged not to use electronic banking? Simple becuz theres no paper trail only a maniulated trail of 1's and 0's and therefor ten times harder to track your votes.

lol just use american idols voting system if your gonna use electronic voting.
