US Army desertion rate up 80% since '03

Topic started on 20-11-2007 @ 03:13 PM by iskander

WASHINGTON - Soldiers strained by six years at war are deserting their posts at the highest rate since 1980, with the number of Army deserters this year showing an 80 percent increase since the United States invaded Iraq in 2003.

Sucks but true, which clearly shows that even with out forced conscription no army is immune to desertion when its powers are being abused by private interest.

No wonder they need Blackwater so much, those guys are simply hired guns that kill for fun and money.

And it looks like our police forces are slated to be “substituted” by private outfits like “North American Security”, especially in light of massive police desertion numbers during Katrina.

.........and the rest of the story

The totals remain far lower than they were during the Vietnam War, when conscription was in effect, but they show a steady increase over the past four years and a 42 percent jump since last year.

It’s not the “rest of the story”, it IS the story;

“Sucks but true, which clearly shows that EVEN WITH OUT CONSCRIPTION no army is immune to desertion when its powers are being abused by private interest.”

This 80% rise represents the jump among troops that VOLUNTERELY joined the armed forces, and were not conscripted against their will. Also, the article shows that the desertion rate in increasing almost exponentially.

show a steady increase over the past four years and a 42 percent jump since last year.

i would desert too, if the very country i was fighting for betrayed me, if the very values i believed in were being ravished by all these leftist liberal bastards, if my own nation started hating the military! wouldnt you desert too? this country is changing, and in a bad way too. the foundations and rights that the country was built on are falling apart before our very eyes! please, future posters tell me you agree with me please.
