Neocons trying to redefine truth of being covert

Topic started on 24-11-2007 @ 11:33 AM by drakeman

Once again we have a NeoCon think tank trying to create confusion so as to hide thei behavior or guilt. Now we have REUEL MARC GERECHT writing in the Wall Street Journal that it's the left leaning liberals that have propsed that CIA operatives should maintain covert cover.

He attempts to state in non-direct terms that Valerie Plame couldn't be compromised since CIA operatives are know to the local area intelligence officers or are compromised by other operatives anyway.

I think the Noecons are trying to rewrite history and fact to cover their tracks.
I wonder if they are getting worried.

REUEL MARC GERECHT works for a well know NeoCon think tank. The WSJ is up to it's usual tricks.

Funny this comes out right after word of White House Correspondent Scott McClellan spilling the beans that Bush,Chaney, and company leaked the info themselves which happens to be against the law.

Funnier still how those that wish to slam Conservatives use silly made up words like neocon, shmeocon, and

Have Problems with FACTS

Despite all the hype, it appears that Plame works a desk job at the CIA. That's an admirable and important line of work. But it doesn't make her a covert operative, and it didn’t make her a covert operative when Bob Novak mentioned her in his July 14, 2003, column, or the five years preceding the column’s publication, during which time she hadn’t served overseas as a spy, either. And even if Plame had been a covert operative, as I read the statute, Karl Rove or anyone revealing her identity, would: 1) have had to secure the information from classified information; and 2) intended to use the information to expose her identity. There's no information on the public record to support this, either.

But if Plame wasn't a covert operative who met the five-year foreign-service requirement, identifying her based on the memo should be of no legal consequence.

same media that are speculating about Rove's guilt filed papers in federal court insisting that there can be no underlying crime as Plame's identity

The goal is to damage the president. Indeed, even before the investigation's end, Charles Schumer, Harry Reid, and Joe Wilson himself are demanding Rove's head. And to think it all started with Valerie Plame herself
