Iran Says God Protects Nuclear Program

apnews.myway.com

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Sunday that God would punish Iranians if they do not support the country's disputed nuclear program, state radio reported.

"The Iranian people openly announce that they will defend their rights... God will reprimand them if they do not do so," state radio quoted Khamenei as saying.

Without a doubt Iran leaders are religious fruit loops .Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your point of view a regime change for the better will remain a Neocon wet dream . Like it or not thanks to Bush and co were struck with Iran being a dominant(SP?) player in the Middle East region .

To me this is nothing more then a religious fanatic state trying to keep control. I prefer to think people both there, and abroad are smart enough to see through that.

I have to agree with you, they are now a major player now that Saddam has left the building.
I wonder what the other moderate (if there is such a thing - and I think there is, fortunately!) Moslem countries think of the abuse of their god in the war like rhetoric.

Someone - a cleric or whatever, not necesserely from Iran, should condemn this sort of dictate just to prove they are following the Koran.

Imagine if the Pope were to say the same thing!!

Isn't God protecting our nuclear weapons? It would seem that maybe he's able to protect all nuclear weapons, but can he protect us from them? The US has enough weapons to destroy earth many times over. It's called overkill and with the 'misplacemnt' of a recent nuke, that scares me. Having a nuke or two in Iran does not threaten the US at all. It may, however cause the Israeli's some trepidation. Why does it seem that Americans feel only they can exercise the proper judgement when it comes to nuclear weapons? ( I am American by the way)

The only thing I might through back to your question is, who would you trust with nuclear weapons? Both the U.S. and Russia went through the cold war with out using them. Israel has managed not to use them yet. So would you trust Iran with them?

Well what about India & Pakistan? It's an awesome power to have maybe no body should have them? What they say in the stock market may apply to nukes as well,
"Past performance is no predictor of future anialations"

Here in New Zealand we will not allow any ships carrying nuclear weapons, or in fact nuclear powered vessels to enter our ports.
This has always been a 'bone' of contention between us and the Americans and we tend to pay for it in lack of a trade agreement.

Maybe if they offered Iran a trade agreement in exchange for 'not' continuing down the nuke path, now that would be funny!!

(Also, considering it was a Kiwi that set everyone on the nuke path (Ernie Rutherford) it is pure irony.)

Yeah it wouldn't be any differnt then using a gang member to ensure the return of the stolen war medals .
Its nice to see a fellow kiwi around the place.
