as a scot myself, i'm not entirely sure that a fully independant scotland is a good idea.
i do believe though that money made in scotland should stay in scotland. i dont think it is fair that the revenues brought in here should go to
westminster just for us to get a relativly small cut. i dont believe that we should get a budget from our own money. what, for example, would happen
if scotland was doing well, and england was heading for recession? would they give us a smaller cut to alleviate their own predicament? make us poorer
to dig them out a hole. doesnt sound to fair does it?
but to consider what would happen if we got full independance.
what about the armed forces? how would we split that up? how many planes, tanks and ships would we get? what about scottish servicemen and women
workin in english battalions and vice versa? would they be told to back to their own land?
i think that the forces should remain united and we should pay our fair share for them.
what about the NHS? if i went to visit family in england would i need a passport to cross the border? and say i was in an accident, would the NHS in
england not pay for me because i would then be a scottish citizen and not a british one? and if an englishman were to come here, would the scottish
NHS not treat him for the same reasons?
so, like with the armed forces, i think if we did become independant then the NHS is another resource that should remain united, and we should pay our
fair share for it.
i believe that if agreements like this were set up then the process of gaining independance would be a bit more harmonious and would keep most people
happy.
discuss.
