You could attribute it to the churches stance on prophylactics .

But i bet they would say they must be homosexuals that are having anal sex ..

I agree that things need to change . But more in the education system .

"over 1 in 4"?

does that sound exaggerated to anyone else? i think they're either inflating that number to support some argument/agenda or they took an inaccurate sample. either that or i have a skewed concept of the promiscuity of today's youth.

exactly. what area was sampled? was it just in that city, or were samples taken around the country. i say 800 people is not enough of a sample to indicate any sort of solid trend. if i sampled people in my hometown and drew a conclusion of bad the economy was from that sample, i would say our nation has already started a depression. if i take a sample in my current town, i'd wonder what you were talking about.

If you didnt read between the lines they are saying 1-4 girls has an STD because they have added the HPV to the mix. I am sure I read like 80% of ALL men can give HPV to a woman during sex which can cause cervical cancer. I personally think any problems we have regarding young people having sex are nothing compared to what goes on in most 3rd world countried where AIDS alone claims 25+% of the population and we are nowhere near that. I also think the religious, conservative approach does more harm than good because they ask unlogical things of people like preaching abstinence I am sorry just wont work. Lack of an actual sex ed is also a huge part of the problem and if kids are taught properly then IMO they will make better decisions for themselves but keep them ignorant of the facts and tell them not to do something. Well dont be suprised if they dont listen!

I don't think humans having lot of sex is a major problem but certain groups mainly religious seem to think we are imoral and print propoganda like this lol. If more people were having sex I am sure less people would be killing so I know where I stand on the issue.

Perhaps if I read the first line I would have seen the answer to the question I had here before I edited it.

Anyway, that still seems a bit high. I wouldn't assume 4 of 4 have sex, so that means almost half or more that have sex get a disease?

Or you could attribute it to the lack of faith and morals in modern teens.

Two sides to coin.

Hoes. Thats all I can say. Them Hoes.

But really.. like, honestly... looking at kids today (im 21) and the people of my generation ..

We are perfect little angels compared to those of the 60-70's (ironically, the same F'ups F'ing up the country now... another 20 years and we can begin to repair the extensive damage that generation inflicted on this country..)

And i am not kidding.. sure, they get high off the most unusual sources like chocking each other, and they still find ways to get trashed on the weekends.. and they still have sex like every generation before..

But still perfect little angels compared to the past generations. Maybe if parents of the 60-70's generation where not such tightwads about their kids "doing what I did" because they are NOT doing half the crap they did, they would notice when their kids should consult a doctor about sexual protection, and maybe, just maybe, the schools could give proper sex education in about 8th grade.

But nah. Pretend they don't do anything and they just cant possibly do anything stupid.

I'm done ranting now..

Bottom line kids get STDS because kids have sex... and you can't stop them from doing that.. its to damn fun.

my wife and i already assume that our kid will have sex as a teen. even if he doesn't we're going to teach him safety above abstinence. telling him not to won't help anything if he decides to. telling him how to do it safely will. that also goes for alcohol. we won't encourage these things but i think it's naive to assume that the average teen won't be tempted at least once.

The article is pure garbage, HPV isn't even a sexually transmitted disease. In fact, they aren't even sure how it is spread, and its connection to cervical cancer is extremely thin. There are couples who have been married for years, where one partner has HPV, and the other doesn't. Chances are, if this percentage is correct, it is fairly consistent around the globe for all age groups, probably increasing with age.

From what I read awhile back, 90% of adults have some form of Herpes, and the virus is even attacking coral reefs in the ocean. A cold sore is Herpes, and this was just another media construct.

Wow what a quick reponse to this thread.

I post about millions of people starving, barely any response.

I post about oil reaching $109/barrel, barely any response

I post about a teenage girls getting STDs

Seriously though, I believe its a lack of social structure and real values. You dont get real values from a religion or church. Children learn their values from their Parents, School, Friends, and Recreation (movies, games, etc.). Essentially I blame the Parents and Schools.

You don't need a church to have faith or morals . Well YOU might . But thats a different story . Besides you cant teach faith. Maybe the idea of it but certainly not the act.

Education is key. I have faith that there will be no std's ever again ... Is it working? ....

This whole thing is being perpetrated by terrorist pharmaceuticals who want you to support the vaccine.

Dont buy into it, people.

Look how many thousands of years the human race survived without hypos; we don’t need their poison and neither do our children.

Lets also not forget that just because they're called "Sexually Transmittable Diseases", doesn't mean the only way you can become infected is through sexual intercourse.

This story screams "Big Pharma marketing gimmick" to me. More scare tactics, to sell more meds. Now be a good little girl and go get your Gardasil. Oh that's right, it's not just for girls anymore.

Considering the way the water supply is, we really dont need anymore weird drugs in the water until a filter system is devised to get pharmacueticals out. I dont know about you but I dont like the idea of having a low constant dose of viagra or crack.
