Yet another confidence vote - this time it's immigration

Topic started on 15-3-2008 @ 01:44 PM by Duzey

The Conservatives have announced another confidence vote.

The changes, which amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, were included in the budget bill, making them a confidence matter. If they're passed, the changes would speed up the processing of applications for skilled workers, but they would also throw other claimants to the back of the line and reject others outright.

The bill will likely become law, unless the Liberals -- who have abstained or voted with the Tories on recent confidence motions -- vote against the bill with support from other opposition MPs.

I am so sick of this. The Conservatives can't call an election, because they announced a fixed election date. So they are playing chicken with the stupid Liberals who are so disorganized they just roll over and play dead on everything.

What does an immigration bill have to do with the budget? Nothing, that's what.

What's the point of having a minority government at this point? Stop with the freaking confidence votes already! Trying to force the other parties to hold an election you want is getting old.

fixed my spelling.

With the state of the Liberal party might as well claim that Harper has a majority. Dion has to grow a pair. Grab someone by the throat or flip off the media, anything. Show the country he has a pulse.

Harper just likes playing chicken with the Liberals. He knows that Dion doesn't have the nerve to bring them down. If he does, it'll probably cost him his job. I think thats just the Liberals need actually but there options for leader aren't overly bright. I blame Gerard Kennedy for the mess we are in right now. If he hadn't put his support behind Dion at the convention, Ignatief or Rae would be heading the party. Not that either of those are good choices.

Our choices in a General Election look pretty grim anyway.

Let's look at our choices:

A liar(Harper)

A coward(Dion)

A Socialist(Layton)

A one horse Party(May)

Our foreseeable future looks promising doesn't it.

I wonder what a chef gets payed in Iceland? Or maybe Bermuda.
