China rejects dialogue with Dalai Lama

BEIJING has all but ruled out talks with the Dalai Lama despite mounting international pressure for a dialogue over his Tibetan homeland.
A foreign ministry spokesman stuck to the country's hard line against the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, referring to him as a double-dealing "splitist" bent on Tibet independence.

"The Dalai Lama must give up his proposition for Tibetan independence, stop his splitist activities and recognise that Tibet... is a part of China, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government of all of China,'' foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang said.

Well this foreign minister doesn't beat around the bush does he. This is a shame considering the

Dalai Lama recently commented how he would be willing to meet the Chinese leaders.

Although not officially Tibet's Leader, the Dalai Lama is very much respected by the Tibetans and this go at least far enough to invoke peace again, doubtfully it will get their independence but why does needless blood have to be shed?

I don't think the Dali Lama would agree to meet with the prime minister if he knew the prime minister would accept the invite. The Dali Lama is a political genius and survivor. This was designed to derail the issues and create more reasons to boycott the Olympics.

I strongly feel the Olympics should be boycotted for several reasons far more important than a centuries old insider belief battle.

This is merely a political platform the Lama created to push forth his own agenda. He will undoubtedly empower himself and his followers should a boycott occur. He will take full responsibility and establish his political prowess so he can take a long vacation of writing books and holding lectures on world peace.

I think he's running low on cash again!
