Clinton Drops Another Tale From Stump Speech

Topic started on 5-4-2008 @ 07:18 PM by GradyPhilpott

Clinton's memory has been sorely taxed during this campaign or so it seems. When a politician uses anecdotes to prove a point, those anecdotes need to have some basis in fact, or at least, that's what a normal person would think.

Hillary's been telling a tall tale that has horrified audiences and stressed her assertion that universal health care is what America needs. There's just one problem. The story is a lie.

For the past month, the New York senator liked to tell the tale of a pregnant woman who was denied health care from an Ohio hospital because she did not have $100 the hospital demanded to treat her. After being turned away, the woman was brought back to the hospital days later with severe complications. She had to be rushed to another facility for advanced treatment, but it was too late. Both the woman and the baby died, Clinton told her audiences.

For Clinton, the story was an example of how everyone should have universal healthcare. It is a powerful tale and always drew gasps from the audience.

The hospital, which was never named in Clinton's speeches, objected this weekend, saying it wasn't true and demanded that Clinton stop telling it. The O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio, told the New York Times that the woman was insured and was never denied treatment.

Why, with real-life horror stories to use, does she do silly things like this? Some one needs to sit her down and tell her quit doing this sort of thing. It's gonna cost her eventually. It would have already, save for the fact that Obama is busily putting his foot in it, too.

McCain's just gotta be loving this stuff. Unreal. He couldn't pay for this stuff and hope to get it this good...

Kinda like Reagan's welfare queen riding up in a cadillac to pick up her food stamps... turned out it was a figment of his imagination as well.
