RATS should have an entrance point requirement of 100k points.

Correct me if I am wrong but that 5k point fee only buys one month of access. If you are not posting a pile of content it does not look like you would be spending a lot of time in there anyway.

Not exactly. The initial fee is 5k. I think it's 250 a month thereafter.

Ah, the quarterly "RATS Elitist" thread. I really need a copy and paste message for these.

RATS is neither elite nor secret. It exists so that certain topics can be discussed without triggering unfavorable search-engine results. Google can't penetrate RATS.

There are certain topics ATS does not want discussed on its publicly searchable forums and certain words they do not want used in posts, because search-engines running across X number of instances of them label the site as something negative. This, in turn, gets ATS blocked from a network that subscribes to these lists of negative label URLs. For instance, if ATS had a lot of threads about drugs, it would get labeled as a drug site.

As such, these topics are confined to RATS, where they don't count against ATS in the labeling process. There's nothing elite or mysterious about it, it's just a CYA method ATS uses to protect itself and membership from being blocked on a lot of networks.

5,000 upfront (first month) and 250 per month thereafter is correct.

Hm, did not know that, that should be posted in the store. Might just hop in and see what the hullabaloo is all about.

I've been here for 2 and a half years and I still don't have enough points for RATS. Sure I can jump through some hoops like tinwiki or twitter in order to get more points, but I shouldn't have to.

What's the REAL reason for the point system anyway?

Well, it depends on your point of view. It's either:

  • a logical, though admittedly not perfect method of deducing ones objective-based value given to the community minus the mistakes they've made along the way... (see wuffie )

    ...or...

  • an integral step in a communist plot to take over the world.

I'm more than a little convinced it's the first option, because if communists ran this site, it'd be a lot less interesting.

Yup. That's what I think to.

I don't have that many point because I don't make threads, I typically only respond to others.

Still have enough to get into rats and buy everything in the store. I even made a thread a while back asking to give my points away!

Only because I am a strict communist and believe in the redistribution of all points to all ats members so we can live in equality!

I've been here little less than a yr. and reaching 80,000 points, but a secret, one day the points must have been messed up because every single person that responded to my thread, I was awarded 1,000 points, I don't know how, but it just happened like that.

But, I got most of my points just from submitting news articles, that has to be about the easiest thing to do to gain points.

When I took the MARK, it got all infected and the rfid fell out.
Do I complain? nope I just pay my monthly and plot for domination.
Wait was that still a secret?

Honestly, I wish many more would come over to the RATS side.

I am still battling with co-ords for the handshake and arm twist-elbow bump thing but i am getting there cos those meetings were awesome last month.
