Why was my thread removed?

Topic started on 11-8-2008 @ 01:52 AM by caballero

I am very upset with ATS's administration, rules or whatever was the cause for my perfectly political thread to be removed.

It was a thread supporting the legalization of Cannabis, It hadnt been up for more than an hour and it was removed. I am very upset with this site, We are supposed to be a beacon for freedom of speech, freedom of thought and freedom of opinion but we have to be careful what we say think and feel because it might upset the big guys upstairs.

In my thread I provided links to informative videos and to propositions that would help legalize cannabis for medical and personal use. I stated that it was a constitutional freedom to grow, buy, sell, and use cannabis but I also advised not to share personal stories. It was meant to be a place for debate on the Very political issue of cannabis and I see no reason why it should have been removed.

I am tired of "the elites" throwing away my freedoms because it disagrees with their beliefs. If you want this to be a place of intellectual debate then dont delete threads that will provide debate.

How can we ever deny ignorance if we cant even face the truth? the truth about EBEs, NWO, End of the world and Cannabis legalization. Who are you to say whats alright to talk about and what isnt?

I want my thread back, I want it to be put back up in full function or I want a very sincere apology from whomever deleted my thread. At this point it isnt even about the thread its about my freedoms, the freedoms that I thought ATS provided. I was very wrong in thinking they would be the one place that valued personal freedoms. I am very disappointed with ATS's rules administration and the whole lot for their deceit.

Actually, according to the Terms and Conditions, it was more or less in violation because of the controversial topic nature, in that it will lead towards discussion on illegal activities. I never read your thread, nor am I being nasty towards you, only relating information I heard about this topic. Now, however, you can post on topics like that on R.A.T.S., or on ATS's Really Above Top Secret.

I forget the exact amount of points necessary to buy into this forum area, but it's like ATS Premium, and I think it was 5,000 points for the first time purchase, and 250 points per month after that. If I might make a suggestion, re-write your thread in Microsoft Word, save it, and keep posting until you have enough points for R.A.T.S. and post it there once you can.

I'm only trying to help, since I see you're new on ATS, and yes, it's frustrating to have your work deleted, but it happens every now and then.

I'll guarantee you this though, your demanding anything, is the fastest route to being banned on ATS ever.

You are fighting a losing battle here. You are not the first person to have their drug related thread removed and you won't be the last. It is a violation of the Terms and Conditions you agreed to when you signed up here, so you really don't have much to go on.

I agree with you in principal that it is a strange way to deny ignorance, but that is the way that it is. Especially in light of the other topics that are allowed. For example, "Obama is the antichrist". Sounds harmless, but someone recently planned to assassinate him because he thought that... did he get the idea here? Should we censor ideas like that?

Regardless, ATS drew a line in the sand and we all have to play by those rules.

Gah its so idiotic that here we are saying "deny ignorance" when we cant even show everyone the truth.

I dont care if it was against the terms and conditions, I wasnt saying "lets share stories" or "everyone get stoned" It was even partly about medical use. They might have drawn the line but they need to draw a new line.

This site IS highly controversial what the hell do they expect?

greeneyedleo-
It is deceit because we cant possibly deny ignorance or be any better than the people that we bash all day if we cant speak the whole truth.

As others have already posted, it was most likely a violation of the 'Ts and Cs'.

There is also a Complaints/Suggestions feature: HERE.

That way you can directly contact the whole ATS Staff Team.

There was also an indepth thread posted on the issue of Freedom of Speech: Freedom Of Speech, ATS, and Ending The Eternal September

Feel free to add to it.

I'm sure there's a thread around here somewhere that explains it, but basically discussing the use of illegal substances is against the T&C when it turns to personal experiences. I believe threads like that last a bit longer in RATS, but that is only due to it not being searchable by Google and the like. Threads of that nature aren't permitted in the ATS forums, except RATS, because they can lead to the site being caught up by the filters that some have on their computers thus making the rest of the site inaccessible for some people. That and they don't want impressionable youngsters being able to get to that kind of discussion on the site. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about something, and a mod will probably be along shortly to clarify if they haven't posted already before I click the post reply button that is.
