What was up with Nerdling's Presidential Debate thread?

Topic started on 8-10-2004 @ 10:09 PM by curme

Why would anyone care what two members of ATS think, when it excludes the entire ATS community? Isn't that what AIM and MSN is for?

Seriously. Did someone at ATS think the community would enjoy two posters, posting back and forth, without any say so from the ATS community?

Why such a disconnect? Why, in the middle, someone realized it wasn't wise to have 20 different real time threads, and include everyone else?

I'm offended that my opinion wasn't worthy enough, and was told to start my own thread. Then told later, it's ok, I can post now.

Errr....

The entire thread was to bring the ATS community together whilst 2 people would post their candidates answers and a short critique of it.

Your opinion was worthy and the idea you got is wrong. You u2u'd me 2 hours ago and I replied to you in a message where I myself apologised for something that someone else did. I'm sorry you got the misconception but this was most definitely a group effort designed to spur discussion.

It works for live blogging, one of the fastest growing internet trends.

I apologize for my misunderstanding, Nerdling. I was U2Ued the explanation, and you, and others, were more than gracious, and sincerely tried to clear up any miscommunication.

But being a conspiracy forum, I was just paranoid about certain factions, thinking that their opinions were more important, and so conceited that anyone would care.

I think the more important issue here is Nerdlings avatar. Are we supposed to be putting up scary Halloween avatars, or is Nerdling ahead of the curve?

Seriously guys, no harm, no foul.

Ted hasn't had anything more solid than 18 year Chivas Regal since 1980, but at least he does his job as a Senator (unlike some Taxachusetts elected officials ).

If the thread was restricted to just two commentators, i think it would be diminished (I understand that this was not the intent). I found some of the commentary quite enlightening. Different people pick up on different nuances, the experience is enhanced.

Oh my God! You're right! I have had three dirty martinis and two whiskeys so far on this wonderful Friday night. Old Ted just might want to drink my blood!

Being a Kennedy he'd charm it out.

I really need to start a hair thread. The Kennedy Hair rivals even the most aggressive Trump hair.

I'm always clueless and have to catch up, but I didn't realize anybody ever thought they couldn't join in with us. We hoped that it would be a community effort, and it became one.

My opinion of Bush's replies (and I'm sure Loki feels the same way about his opinions on Kerry's replies) were only there to spur further member comments on the same response...basically, like "well, where do you get he did so good on that one?" or, "To the contrary, I feel he did great." with explanation, of course.

marg - you did great too! I had a lot of fun doing that, it was neat to listen to a debate in a different way - kind of interactively, if you will!

to nerdling for a great time, and a great effort.

The basic thing that happened was that I u2u'ed without thinking.

I thought I was getting into something that I obviously wasnt. I was simply having a hard time keeping my thoughts gathered during a very stressful event. I apologize PUBLICLY now, as I already have done once PRIVATELY. I am sorry. I did not realize when I got into the thread that it was open to anyone who wanted to post.
